While I've been a gardener for many years, in two very different climates, it wasn't until the Spring of 2012 when a fateful trip to my local garden center to by food for our flock of hens changed how I would see flowers forever. One of the aisle end caps was filled to the brim with colorful packages of dahlia tubers. It was a cold, cloudy day in March and those colorful dahlia blooms printed on the packages seduced me into bringing home two large bags full of tubers. I thought, what do I have to I lose? They must grow okay here or they wouldn't be selling them, right? And so my romance began, not only with growing dahlias but many other varieties of summer annuals and perennials for cutting.
